In this final episode of our mini-series “Mental Health during COVID-19”, Kunika Balhotra, Suno India’s Research and Communications Officer spoke with Nidhi Gupta, a 28 year old communication professional to understand how the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown has affected people with pre-existing mental illnesses.
A Lancet study published this year said that one in seven Indians were affected by some kind of mental disorder. A
report released by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences in April stated that any pre-existing psychiatric conditions like psychosis, mood disorders, anxiety spectrum disorders, sleep disorders, among others can exacerbate during the quarantine.
Nidhi Gupta spoke about how the lockdown triggered anxiety in her case, and how she sought care to cope with it.
